Official evaluation of sustainable forest management and forest certification at Di Linh and Bao Lam SoFCs, Lam Dong Province

The mission "Support to Di Linh & Bao Lam Stated Owned Forest Companies (SoFC) to meet the International standards of sustainable forest management (SFM) according to the Forest Stewardship Council's (FSC) Principles & Criteria" was implemented by the Institute for Forest Ecology and Environment

Meeting on results of formal evaluation of sustainable forest management and forest certification in 2 SoFCs: Di Linh and Bao Lam in Lam Dong Province was held with time and place as follows:

  • On 30 - 31 January at Bao Lam Forestry Single member liability Limited Company
  • On 01 - 02 February at Di Linh Forestry Single member liability Limited Company

At the meeting, the evaluation of sustainable forest management was based on 10 FSC principles. Participants in the meeting included:

  • Mr. Martin Opitz - Main Expert of GFA FM / COC since 2011
  • Ms. Le Thi Loc - Main Expert of GFA FM / COC since 2017
  • 4 staffs of the central UN-REDD program
  • 5 staffs of Institute for Forest Ecology and Environment
  • Leaders and staffs of the companies

Results after 2 working days at each company:
  • Bao Lam SoFC: observation mistakes: 5; small mistakes: 5; major mistake: 0.
  • Di Linh SoFC: observation mistakes: 6; small mistakes: 8; major mistake: 1.
Bao Lam and Di Linh SoFCs has been eligible for FSC forest certification

(Review and revise red books in Bac Yen, Son La)

4. Điều tra, đánh giá thực trạng và đề xuất một số giải pháp khôi phục, phát triển hệ sinh thái rừng khộp ở Tây Nguyên
(Survey, evaluate the current situation and propose a number of solutions to restore and develop the ecosystem of dipterocarp forest in the Central Highlands)
