Coastal forest protection and development in Vietnam

Coastal forests, especially mangroves, play a very important role in the protection and life of coastal communities which are considered the most vulnerable areas to the impacts of nature, especially in the context of climate change. These forests provide a range of ecosystem services that help filter water, stabilize the coast, conserve biodiversity and play an important role in the tourism and entertainment industries, etc. However, this ecosystem is one of the most vulnerable ecosystems due to human impact and climate change. The Prime Minister issued Decision No. 1029/QD-TTg dated July 13, 2017 approving the investment policies for the project "Improving resilience of vulnerable coastal communities to climate change – related impacts in Viet Nam" funded by Green Climate Fund (GCF)through UNDP in Vietnam.
At the Consultation Conference for the draft of data set for the Vietnam coastal forest monitoring and management was organized on June 7, 2019 in Da Nang, participants were also see Reportage ofcoastal forest protection and development in Vietnam, developed by VNFOREST, and with a overall view of the status of Vietnam's coastal forests and the progress of the project.
