Advanced Training: “Applying Smart devices in tracking and verifying the eligible forest area for Payment for Environmental Services” in Son La Province

During three days from May 3 to May 5, 2018, Son La Forest Protection and Development Fund in collaboration with Institute for Forest Ecology and Environment organized an advanced training course on applying Smart devices in tracking and verifying the eligible forest area for Payment for Environmental Services.
Implement the plan No. 63 / KH-UBND dated 04/4/2018 of People's Committee of Son La province on checking and verifying the area of forest to be paid for forest environmental services in 2017 and implementing inspection conclusions No. 2906 / KL-UBND dated 11/9/2017 of People's Committee of Son La province. During three days from May 3 to May 5, 2018, Son La Forest Protection and Development Fund (Provincial Fund) in collaboration with Institute for Forest Ecology and Environment organized an advanced training course on applying Smart devices in tracking and verifying the eligible forest area for Payment for Environmental Services. Mr. Soi Ngoc Dung - Director of Provincial Fund attended and stated the course’s steering.
The participants include all staffs working for branches ofProvincial Fund, technical staffs of 12 forest protection department at district levelin the whole province.
Training content:

• Install the necessary software to personal computers and smart mobile devices.
• Standardize data, create input file to put on smart mobile device before going on field inspection.
• Enter data into smart mobile devices.
• Data collection on the field, combined with satellite imagery.
• Export data from smart mobile devices.
• Processing data collected from smart mobile devices, combined with dedicated GIS software.
• Export data based on the form of payment for forest environmental services of Central Fund (VNFF) and Provincial Fund

Training results:

After theoretical training, the class visited the site in Dong Sang Commune, Moc Chau District, 100% of the participants collected data from the field in the right way, exported data and emailed it, processing of data collected from the field and output is presented on request.
Mr. Le Manh Thang – Vice Director of the Provincial Fund who followed the class all three days have evaluated: The participants of the training class were enthusiastic, hard-working; instructors were responsible, dedicated. Therefore, the training was on demand.
